Exterior brickwork Re dec

What would you guys use to treat and repaint this exterior brickwork is this efflorescence ?many thanks

It’s difficult to establish if it’s efflorescence from the pictures but it does look like it could be. In which case you need to identify the cause before you plaint otherwise it’s just going to come through again.

As far as I know it’s caused by damp wicking up through the brickwork and then evaporating through the surface where it leaves the deposits. There might be a damp-blocking primer you can use but I don’t know how effective it would be.

Yep thanks looks like the cavity could be blocked or maybe the dpc failing. the house is 1900 years old.without fixing those problems ia there any way around this. What is the name of that damp proofing sealer.many thanks
