Problems related to masking tape

Continuing the discussion from Painting tips!:

Masking tape is an essential ingredient in a painter’s toolbox and in view of how long it has been around, you would think that it was a given that masking tape would work right every time, but it isn’t so.

What problems do you come across and what is your solution?

Here is one for starters:

what about carrying adhesive remover, help remove sticky marks left by tape

Take it that’s using heat gun from a distance .

This video on masking tape comparison is very useful to demonstrate, if nothing else, that there is a reason for carrying different tapes.

Essentially it covers masking tape performance on a newly painted wall surface.

I would say that the first criteria of tape performance in this scenario (and most others?) is preventing edge bleed. What do you think?
