Protecting floors when painting a stairway

Will be painting HSL for long time client.

Number of issues include:

Masking the carpet is a big issue - i shouldn’t leave it on for the paint to dry but can’t redo it for every coat.

Not had a problem leaving standard tape down for a week or more on carpet round the edges. You want a fairly sticky version so it doesnt let go. Obviously if the carpet is old and likely to have loose threads come up just looking at it, rethink.

Ordinarily though, push the tape down so it is right down to the bottom of the skirting, and dont flood the bottom of skirtings and frames with paint. When you take the tape up. give the tape a poke with a filler knife at the base of the skirting to break any seal.

Sounds like a great job to get efficient on.
