Trouble with painted plaster

(darlic) #1

Hi couple of questions.

I looked at a job, the plaster walls have been painted and the paint is blistering. I was thinking sand the walls then use zinsser Peelstop. Any other ideas.

Any feedback on this product on plaster is it reliable?

Unfortunately putting peel stop on top of paint that’s not stuck isn’t going to make it stick. It is only going to stick the edges where the paint has already broken.

Is this because the plaster wasn’t mist coated to begin with? In which case you might just have to try and scape the paint off and start over which will be a pain in the rump. You could try and sand back carefully but you are in danger of going into the plaster. Maybe a few coats of Gardz to try and level it all off a bit.
