Zinsser (water based primer) or Blackfriars Problem Solving Primer

we are new to the forum so first of all hello to all.

I wanted to get some feedback on using Zinzer over Blackfriars Cover All Problem Primer for painted furniture. We have been using Zinzer for a long time with mixed results but having read quite a bit about Blackfriars I wanted to see if one gives a better base over the other.

I haven’t used Blackfriar’s primer, so can’t really comment. But I’ve used plenty of Zinsser.

For furniture, bare wood or otherwise, I always use Zinsser Cover Stain Primer. It’s oil based but applies well and sands dead smooth when fully dry. I add Owatrol Oil to it for application and levelling purposes.

The only drawback of this product is the odour when painting large areas or in confined spaces.
